Members are only eligible to enter with an active competition handicap. For the avoidance of doubt, this is illustrated with a “c” after your playing handicap on IG. Anyone entering without an active handicap will be removed from the competition. The maximum playing handicap for Board Competitions is 20, with the exception of the Angora Cup (Handicaps 20-28). Players with an active handicap higher than 20 may enter but will have to play off 20 in the competition. Please note in a situation where a player is playing off the maximum 20 but their actual handicap is higher, the shot calculator on IG is not to be relied upon, as the results shown are based on the actual handicap only.
Non Board Competitions
Players with an inactive handicap are allowed to enter but are not eligible to win the competition.
Please could everyone ensure their entry fee is paid using IG beforethe start of each competition. Should a player be promoted from the reserve list, IG does not automatically take their entry fee. The individual player is responsible for ensuring their entry fee is paid before the competition starts.
Entry Fee Refunds
From January 2019 no refunds will be made to members signing up for competitions and subsequently withdrawing, regardless of the circumstances.
Withdrawals within 48 hours
Anyone withdrawing within 48 hours of the start of a Competition will receive a written warning (“Yellow Card”) from the Competition Administrator (2019 - Mark Selwood). A second offense within 12 months will result in the member being banned from the next Board Competition. A genuine medical emergency will be excused, provided satisfactory medical evidence is produced.
Any member who has not withdrawn before the start of the competition and fails to show for their agreed tee-time will receive an immediate ban for the next two competitions. A genuine medical emergency will be excused, provided satisfactory medical evidence is produced.
All players on the reserve list should keep an eye out for the automatic email, which confirms promotion to the main start-sheet. If you can no longer play, please remove yourself from the reserve list or contact the Competition Administrator to do it for you. If a player is promoted from the reserve list and fails to show for their tee-time, no-show rules described above will apply.
For each competition there are three reserved slots that are available for players willing to volunteer as starters for the two hours immediately preceding those playing times. Please contact Kevin Smith for further details.
The use of a buggy is not permitted in Competitions unless the player has a genuine medial requirement, in which case a medical certificate must be produced to the starter or pro-shop as requested on the day.
Please ensure you are at the tee at least 10 minutes before your allocated tee-time. In the event a member is running late and his playing partners have left the first tee-box, he is automatically disqualified and not allowed to participate in the competition.
